Tech / Computer Issues

Video Transcript

Thanks for joining us for another My Bent Tree Help video. In this video, we’ll be discussing some common technical issues.

First, let’s discuss browsers. An internet browser is the tool you use to access the internet. Some common browsers include Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer. The My Bent Tree website is optimized for the Google Chrome browser, and you will have the smoothest user experience on that browser. However, other browsers should also work, as long as you’re using the most updated versions and they’re still supported.

On a related note, Microsoft has announced that it will be phasing out it’s support of Internet Explorer, in lieu of the Edge browser. It’s recommended that you switch to Edge if you haven’t already done so.

If you’re not sure whether you’re using the most current version of your browser, visit whatismybrowser.com. This is a helpful website that will identify your browser information, and provide detailed walk-throughs to help you update and change settings if needed.

Please note that if you email in to Bent Tree requesting assistance, you may be asked to provide your browser information via whatismybrowser.com. Simply go to that website, and then click the “Email” link under “SHARE YOUR SYSTEM INFO WITH TECH SUPPORT.” Make sure you put webmaster@benttree.org in the “Their email” field.

Next let’s talk about third-party cookies. There are segments on our website that use them, namely online giving. If you're seeing any issues, make sure they're enabled. Again, whatismybrowser.com will help you identify whether they’re enabled or not, and walk you through changing the settings if needed.

If you have additional questions or need technical assistance, email webmaster@benttree.org. And don’t forget to check out our other help videos at benttree.org/help.
